These summer programs are offered for children ages 4-12 years old June through August.
Summer Discovery allows kids to explore the nature that abounds in the park while enjoying games, crafts, and a variety of fun educational activities.

Super-Heroes of Nature

This camp focuses on the heroes and villains of nature. Explore each animal’s role in the environment and how some “villains” are an important part of the life cycle. Learn about the epic struggles between these creatures and create your own comic book by the end of camp.

Reptiles and Ambibians

Slither, crawl and hop your way to learning about the various reptiles and amphibians that live at Newlin Grist Mill. Campers will visit the frog pond and the waterfall to compare diverse habitats and macroinvertebrates while keeping their own field journal.

Plant Camp

How do plants impact our world? They provide us with air, food, shelter, and even clothing! Campers attending plant camp will discover how plants impact human and animal life. Get down and dirty in the soil to explore plant life cycles. Campers will create their own planters to watch their seedlings grow.
Ages 4-12, $90.00 per child (multi-week discount available).

Life in the 18th Century

Sign up for this afternoon camp focusing on every day colonial life. Each day of this session features historic activities focused on the 18th century such as soap making, historic cooking, and colonial play.
Ages 7-12, $80,00 per child.

Newlin Grist Mill Explorers

Newlin Grist Mill is once again offering a full day week long session. This in-depth camp combines natural history and colonial life as campers become junior naturalists and historians. Campers will experience Summer Discovery favorite activities such as visiting the frog pond, but will also have the chance to learn about historic cooking, historic trades, and environmental studies. Before and after care is available for this week of camp for an additional fee.
Ages 7-12, $175.00 per child. Before and after care is available for this week only for an additional fee.

Up, Up and Away!!!

Is it a bird? Is it a butterfly? Is it a kite? It’s all these things this week at camp! Learn about what keeps animals and objects in the air - feathers, wings, and the principles of flight. Build a bird feeder to attract birds at home, participate in a kite flying contest, and visit the frog pond to see dragonflies at play.
Ages 4-12, $90.00 per child (multi-week discount available).

Up and About in Nature

Take a hike, leap like a frog, waddle like a duck, stretch towards the sky, and take a deep breath in the forest. This session encourages kids to get up and get moving in nature. Campers will focus on physical activity and how healthy foods can be found in nature. They will make a take-home vegetable garden and a journal of fun animal inspired exercise to do at home.

Critter Camp

Critters abound at Newlin Grist Mill - frogs, turtles, snakes, ducks, birds and deer all make their homes in our streams, ponds, forests, and meadows. Campers attending critter camp will learn about these animals and more through hands on exploration of the ecology of Newlin Grist Mill.
