Environmental Survey Intern
Jessica conducted a natural resources inventory to identify environmental resources at Newlin Grist Mill. The project consisted of gathering information for a resource database and assessing inventory data in light of opportunities for educational programming. She conducted extensive habitat and resource surveys using visual analysis of plant and animal species.
The surveys were conducted from November to July, tracking species across several seasons. Site maps were created for habitat zones, property boundaries, and trails. The collected data was compiled into a 144-page report that is being used to guide management and interpretation of the site’s natural resources. Jessica has a Bachelor of Sciences degree in environmental studies from Randolph-Macon Women’s College.
