Please note: THE GRIST MILL WILL BE OUT OF OPERATION UNTIL SPRING 2020!

We will continue to offer our regular tours, but please be aware that the Mill will not be running. We have drained the millrace in preparation for both the upcoming waterwheel replacement, as well as a planned archaeological excavation of the spillway over the winter.

The Millwright Shop in the 1704 Grist Mill is open Friday through Sunday from 10am to 3pm. Stop in and see our staff an volunteers at work as they prepare to build our new waterwheel for the Mill! Free.

Brewing Up History

Saturday, February 15th from 10am to 3pm

Using reproduction 18th-century-style equipment, Newlin Grist Mill staff will demonstrate traditional beer brewing techniques in the Trimble House kitchen.

The Newlin Series: "Hearth to Home: A History of the English Kitchen"

Thursday, February 13th at 7pm

Please note: This program will be held offsite, location TBA.

Food historian Marc Meltonville will discuss how the kitchen as we know it developed. This talk will kick off the 2020 Newlin Series, offering in-depth looks at topics related to the theme of historic foodways.

Due to heavy rains in the forecast, the bird walk scheduled for Saturday, January 25th has been cancelled. The next bird walk will take place on Saturday, February 29th at 9am.
